P-5 Control Amplifier
A lot of music lovers are very pleased with our former P-11 and P-12 control amplifiers. Now we're offering an entirely new control amplifier with new discrete (transistor) technology.
The input has a mirrored differential stage controlled by constant current sources all around. For that stage we used "integrated" transistors. That means that all individual transistors are placed on a single chip. By using this advanced technology the matching of the individual transistors is at optimum.
The second stage is coupled as a current mirror. This way the amplification is mostly determined by current (instead of voltage amplification).
The inputs are switched by relays and there's only one capacitor in the signal path.
The supply has two stages of stabilization. Both stages are configured as series regulators. The second stage has a current source supplying the regulator with a high impedance. The reference is a special low noise type. When muted the capacitors stay "loaded", only the amplifying part is switched off.
Considering low noise sources such as SA-CD and Blu Ray we now have a pre-amplifier with the lowest level of noise. We guarantee -100 dB but in practice that figure is <-130 dB!
The cabinet has a special construction with sturdy massive aluminum side plates. This solid cabinet will give you lots of musical pleasure for a period of decades.
The P-5 is a perfect match for our new A-19 and D-702 amplifiers and our P-14 phono pre-amplifier.
